Tasting note |
An aromatic smorgasbord of tobacco smoke, cedar wood, fruitcake, black cherries, and currants jumps from the glass of this medium-bodied, austere, angular 2002. Although somewhat superficial, what is there is complex, elegant, and savory. It will drink well for 8-10 years. *** Dense purple-colored, with a big, spicy, distinctive bouquet of cedar, spice box, and tobacco, this medium-bodied, intensely fragrant Figeac should prove to be more satisfying aromatically than on the palate. Nevertheless, its elegance as well as clean, pure red and black fruit, licorice, spice box, and dried herbs are endearing. This provocative blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Merlot has been performing up to its renowned terroir over recent years. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2016.
