Tasting note |
The name “Gevrey” could possibly come from the gorge of Lavaut. In Latin “Gaba” means gorge. The name “Gevrey” first appeared in 1219. The vineyards face east-southeast at an altitude of 250m (820 feet), with soils of clay-limestone, marl, and many iron. Our parcels are from 2 named plots: Champs-chenys and Seuvres.
From the vineyard to the winery, each operation is adapted to the vintage to make the best wines possible and to fully express the parcels’ terroir. Only older oak barrels are used for the aging process.
Ruby color. Typical nose of the Côte de Nuits, with aromas of cherries and raspberries. Good balance between the fruit, acidity and tannins. A generous wine, with bright fruit on the finish, and good length. The Gevrey-Chambertin, served at 16°C, pairs wonderfully with meat dishes and aged cheeses. |
