Tasting note |
It seems that the word “Millande” attests to the fact that there was millet grown here.
The vineyard faces east-southeast at altitudes between 220 to 260m (720 to 850 feet), with soils of limestone, marl, gravel and red-silt. Here there are large round stones called “têtes de loups”, wolf heads. The Millandes parcel is just below Clos-Saint-Denis, at the entrance of the village.
From the vineyard to the winery, each operation is adapted to the vintage to make the best wines possible and to fully express the parcels’ terroir. 33% of new oak barrels are used for the aging process.
Ruby to garnet color. Nose with dominant red fruits with aromas of raspberries and Morello cherries. Very present tannins that are well balanced with the fruit and acidity. This is a powerful, mineral, spicy, structured wine with a lot of body. This wine pairs wonderfully with meat dishes, game stew or aged cheeses. It is best served between 14° to 16°C. The best vintages are ideally aged from 5 to 7 years to fully appreciate the wine. |
