Tasting note |
Chateau Simard has always done things a little differently. Whereas most of its neighbors seem dead set on making as much money as possible and as quickly as possible, Simard is held back for at least ten years from its vintage date. And that ten years is spent in barrel and in bottle as the wine develops aromatically and blossoms into the complex beauty it was always meant to be. Therefore, this 1998 is the current vintage in the marketplace! And as some of you may know, 1998 was spectacular vintage in St-Emilion. No scores yet, but you can be sure to impress by including a bottle of this in your cellar on or you dinner table. It is drinking beautifully now, with chocolate and spice, firm tannins and a rich finish, and it with continue to age wonderfully for another 5 to 10 years.
80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
