Tasting note |
The 2016 vintage saw moderate yields combined with a mild summer and consequently long, slow ripening season, perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon. This enabled us to produce wines of beautiful fruit with typical Coonawarra elegance and balance. The softening effect of traditional open top fermentation, and the maturity of the vineyards have given this wine great mouth feel. It is ready to consume now, though it’s Coonawarra pedigree suggests that it will drink well, if cellared in good conditions, for at least 8-10 years.
- 18 Months in French and American oak, 35% first use, 35% second use, 30% older.
- Blueberry, blackcurrant and boysenberry fruit aromas with vanilla and spice characters. Soft, fine tannins with a persistant finish of toasty, spicy oak spilling onto the palate.
