Located at the crest of the Corton vineyard, near a Roman road, the Notre Dame du Chemin chapel was constructed on the path of salt and pewter and served as a shelter for the pilgrims on their way to Santiago del Compostella. A miraculous spring was worshipped at this chapel but unfortunately it disappeared during the revolution. A traditional pilgrimage still happens August 15th of each year. It is one of 3 Burgundy wines with a regional appellation to have its name on the label. You will love it with an omelet or a platter of cold meats. By Domaine Nudant website.
La Chapelle Notre-Dame is one of the rare Régionale AOC Climats that is allowed to have its name on wine labels. The vines are located alongside the road from Beaune to Dijon, at the bottom of Corton hill in Ladoix-Serrigny. The vines grow close beside the chapel of Notre-Dame du Chemin, from where the appellation takes its name.
The reds are purple in color with hints of ruby. The nose reveals a cocktail of red and black fruit, with hints of blackcurrant, strawberry, and cherry, with touches of wild fruit and blueberry. In the mouth, it is broad and fruity, underscored by perfectly crisp tannins and integrated freshness on the finish.
The fleshy fruitiness and freshness from the red wines is a perfect match for convivial cuisine, such as feathered game pâté, jambon persillé, bacon omelet, sophisticated cold cuts, mushroom velouté, chicken fricassee, roast veal in sauce, grilled beef tournedos, rustic goat cheese and other soft cheeses. Serving temperature: 15-17°C.
