Tasting note |
Anwilka is a joint venture between eminent Bordeaux winemakers Bruno Prats and Hubert de Boüard, and Lowell Jooste of Klein Constantia.
The Anwilka Cellar is located in the premium area of Stellenbosch, the Cape's finest red wine district, where the cool maritime due to the proximity of False Bay helps create wines of balance and elegance.
A well-balanced belnd of 66& Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Shiraz and 5% Merlot, the 2006 vintage was matured for 10 months in French oak barrels. Full-bodied yet elegant, complex yet accesible, it can be enjoyed now.
Abundant blackcurrant and blackberry fruit aromas with exotic spiciness adding to the aromatic complexity. Exhibits hallmarks of a classically-styled wine: linear, concentrated dark berry and plum fruit flavors are perfectly balanced by the supple tannins and fresh acidity, evident through to the positive, flavorful finish. Moderate alcohol and judicious oaking contribute perceptibly to freshness and elegance. |
