Tasting note |
Mossy freshness on this wine's bright nose tinges lemon notes with earthy greenness. The slender but concentrated palate adds a slightly sonorous texture, rounding out the curvaceous lemon brightness. It finishes with a sense of buttery richness and textured length. By Anne Krbeiehl MW @ Wine Enthusiast, Dec 2020.
This is the oldest block the Dampt family owns, the vines being around 60 years old. Located within First Growth Les Vaillons, it has been made separately since 2001, when its individuality and length of flavour were first recognised. The vines are tilted towards the north, making this a naturally cooler site: particularly advantageous in a warm vintage such as 2019. Colour is pale lemon-gold, the nose being vivaciously fruity and appetising. Palate shows roundness and lovely fruit intensity, with a crisp, clean aftertaste (for drinking 2021-2024+).
