Tasting note |
Vivid ruby. Intense red and dark berry aromas are complemented by peppery spice, garrigue and floral pastille notes. Sappy and precise on the palate, offering concentrated, vivacious black raspberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors. Supple, harmonious tannins build steadily on the very long, seamless finish, which leaves behind lavender and juicy dark berry notes. By Vinous, Apr 2016.
The flagship 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is medium-bodied, silky and elegant, with pretty notes of raspberries, crushed rocks, ground herbs and sappy flowers. It plays in the medium-bodied style of the vintage, yet has terrific elegance, as well as a tight, energetic style, fine tannin and impeccable balance. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or so. An elegant and perfumy style, with shiso leaf and incense hints leading the way for silky-textured, lightly steeped cherry and red currant fruit flavors, while subtle dried anise, sage and singed balsam wood notes line the finish. Seems a touch shy on stuffing, but sneaky long. Wine Spectator, Apr 2017. |
