In 1923, Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory and the founding father of Japanese whisky dreamed of creating a truly Japanese whisky blessed by the riches of Japanese Nature and Craftsmanship. At the house of Suntory, the founding family's three generations of Master Blenders have committed to challenging the boundaries of what a Japanese whisky can be. Suntory Whisky Royal, launched in 1960, is the posthumous blend of Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory. When blending, he envisioned a shower of cherry blossoms beside the Yamazaki Distillery.
