Tasting note |
A rather wet spring considerably delayed the start of the vine’s growth cycle, but was followed by a dry summer and scorching temperatures in July and August. The dry weather continued for the first three weeks of September, enabling, despite relatively late ripening, an excellent natural concentration of the grapes (with a moderate yield of around 40 hl/ha).
Beautiful crimson colour, tinged with dark purple. Fairly intense notes of red fruit (plums, blackcurrants and cherries), with a slightly woody hint of cedar, vanilla and liquorice on nose. The attack on palate is clean and direct presenting a fairly strong tannic structure; good, long aromatic length on the finish. This vintage has a good potential to age of around 10 years, however, it could also be enjoyed in its youth from 2015-2016 onwards.
