Tasting note |
The nose on this sake aged for 5 years Hizo or “Treasured” is a very cool collection of sweet nut, white grape, grapefruit, and a touch of musky aromas. This is one of those “Bucket List” sakes that every sake drinker must try. Basically it is a competition-like sake that is stored for 5 years to bring out layers and layers of flavors. The amazing thing is that it is so approachable and drinkable, but sake thinkers will find a ton of elements to explore. Some get nutty flavors and some get rich fruit tones of kiwi, strawberry, and cooked pear, but they all agree that there is a great dry finish that is quick and to the point, which is awesome for an aged sake! How do they do that? Clean, crisp, round and very tight the fluid opens as it warms in the mouth. If the amazing box, bottle, and cork don’t seal the deal then behold a sake that is as “Professional” as they come. Try it to believe it!
