JS93: Very aromatic and fresh on the nose with walnuts, hazelnuts and dried flowers as well as currants and blackberries. Full-bodied, dense and chewy. Impressively structured. Better in 2020. By James Suckling, Apr 2018.
AG91: The 2015 Les Hauts de Smith is gorgeous. Dark, pliant and inviting, it exudes the character that makes the wines from this site so appealing. Plush fruit and soft contours add to the 2015’s considerable appeal. Dark red cherry, plum and a range of more lifted floral/spice notes add nuance. Drink 2018 – 2030. By Antonio Galloni @ Vinous, 2018.
NM90: The Les Hauts de Smith 2015 Rouge has an assured bouquet, harmonious and well defined with blackberry, bilberry plus a light marine scent developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, clean and quite precise, firming up toward a more linear, graphite-tinged finish that displays commendable precision. The terroir is expressed well here and it should age well over the next decade. By Neal Martin, Feb 2018.
Les Hauts de Smith Rouge 2015 has a beautiful very dark red, very dense. The nose expresses very nice fresh fruits, raspberry, cherry, fresh strawberry, with smoke, liquorice and cinamon notes. The palate is concentrated, smoothy, dense with nice tanins texture : hamonious and smoothy. The wine is very charming, revealing lovely fresh red fruits, sweet spices notes (badiane, cinnamon, liquorice), smooky notes very caracteristical of our gravel terroir. Les Haut de Smith red 2015 blends concentration, kindness, smoothness… a charming harmonious wine of pleasure… Kindness and power of seduction. Better enjoyed after 2018.
