AM89-91 Here too there is moderate toasty influence on the notably ripe, indeed almost liqueur-like aromas of red and black raspberry, cassis, plum and soft spice notes. There is a textured mouth feel to the supple, round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess a bit more verve before culminating in a firm, serious and solidly persistent finish. There is good balance and fine depth though note that this will need time. Drink 2019+. By Allen Meadows @ Burghound, Aug 2013.
WS92 A dense, concentrated version that borders on muscular. The cherry and berry flavors are pure and accented by a touch of earth. Vibrant and long. Best from 2016 through 2026. By Wine Spectator, Mar 2014.
WA90 The 2011 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre has a lovely fleshy nose with luscious red cherries and strawberry. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins, plenty of crisp red currant and cranberry fruit, with fine backbone on the finish. Very fine. By Wine Advocate, Aug 2013.
