Chateau Barde-Haut St-Emilion Grand Cru Classe 2013
WS88 A light savory hint is quickly absorbed by the core of soft plum and blueberry fruit, with light anise and cocoa notes holding sway on the modestly fleshy finish. By Wine Spectator, Mar 2016.
NM88 The 2013 Barde-Haut has a fresh, slightly candied bouquet with raspberry pastilles and touches of black truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. The acidity is nicely judged with slightly leafy black fruit, and all it really lacks is persistence on the finish. Enjoy this engaging Saint Emilion over the next 5-6 years. By Neal Martin @ Wine Advocate, Oct 2016.
RP88 One of my go-to, consistently excellent St.-Emilions that tends to over-perform its pedigree (although it was elevated in the 2012 St.-Emilion classification), Barde-Haut’s 2013 reveals lots of spice, red and black currant and plum notes along with good minerality in a medium-bodied, modern style. There is some depth and ripeness, although it is more superficial than in top vintages. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. By Robert Parker, Aug 2014.
