Like the Clos du Roi, generous wood frames the red and dark currant, spice and floral-scented nose. There is really lovely detail to the lightly mineral-laden flavors that possess a delicate, even lacy mouth feel along with a lovely sense of energy while delivering fine length on the ever-so-mildly austere finish. While this could be drunk young I would be inclined to give it a few years first so that it might better integrate its wood treatment. Worth a look if you can wait. By Allen Meadows @ Burghound.
The 2014 Chambolle Musigny Village comes from seven lieux-dits that total 1.41 hectares of vine. It has a rather conservative nose, earthy compared to others, more Morey-like in style than Chambolle -- a leitmotif of this appellation, perhaps. The palate is structured with grippy, slightly chalky tannin. It feels quite compact in the mouth, masculine and a touch austere, though there is sufficient freshness on the finish to suggest that it will drink well over the next 5-6 years. By Neal Martin @ Wine Advocate, Dec 2015.
(made from seven village parcels; and Landanger always adds a bit of premier cru to the blend): Healthy red. Reduced nose is dominated by nutty oak. Fat and rather monolithic, with dark berry fruit currently cut off on the back by strong tannins. Very reduced and hard to assess today, and a touch dry on the finish. By Vinous.com, Jan 2016. |
